Brandywine Center for Dance offers different dance programs for children of all ages. Our levels range from beginner to professional dancers. If your child is brand new to dance, we offer pre-ballet classes in Wilmington, DE. Learn more about each of our programs below.

Children’s Dance Programs in Wilmington, DE

Mommy and Me (18 Mos. - 3 Yrs.)

Mom and tot attend together, exploring movement to fun and exciting music. Students will learn song and dance routines to perform for Grandma and Grandpa. Students also work on stretching and flexibility exercises, barre, and gross motor skills while Mom gets to dance, too!

Pre-Ballet/Creative Movement (Ages 3 - 5)

This course includes the fundamentals of ballet, jazz, and tap with the use of instruments, dancing scarves, and dance routines for the Parents' Day performance. We introduce proper terminology and alignment principles at all levels in an age-appropriate way. Seasonal themes and fun performances encourage students to find the creative individual in themselves. Most classes include "Baby Rhythms," a fun and exciting introduction to tap.


  • Attire: Pink leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers.

Kinderdance® (Ages 5 - 6)

Kinderdance is an interdisciplinary program designed to develop skills, coordination, and vocabulary essential to ballet, tap, and jazz.


  • Attire: Pink leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, and black tap shoes.

Classical Ballet Division I, II, & III and Pre-Pointe/Pointe Classes

Our goal for classical ballet classes is to help each child develop a love and understanding of ballet as an art form. We emphasize proper technique at every level. Additionally, we maintain smaller class sizes with the younger students to ensure each child receives the attention they deserve.

Introduction to Dance (6 - 9)

We offer this option as a dance exposure course for elementary-school-aged children. It introduces the basics of ballet, tap, and jazz.


  • Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, black jazz/tap shoes, black or pink chiffon wrap skirt (ballet), and black jazz pants (jazz, optional)

Advanced Intro to Dance (8 - 13)

This class requires a more advanced technique. Students may take up to 5 hours of combined instruction weekly and can attend company performances by invitation.
